I thought of a missing stanza from Erica’s great poem:

Punters preferring the ‘place’ position
cannot go wrong with ‘Weathervane’.
Ridden by Kim Beazely, this is a horse
with a history of following the tail in front,
biting but never willing
to go left and take the lead.

Again, wish ’twere not so true …
