Flinders NAIDOC Week Address

Last Friday night I joined about 60 students at Flinders University Hall for dinner.

There were two highlights – a film made for the occasion by a group of Aboriginal students that documented aspects of coming to university at Flinders among Aboriginals, and an address by Roland Wilson, on the staff of Yunggorendi First Nation Centre for Higher Education and Research.

Roland’s address picked up on the theme of this year’s NAIDOC Week, recognising Aboriginals who served in Australia’s armed forces.

He spoke about a war that took place within Australia, fought by his people at the time of white settlement – a story yet to be recognised within the history of Australia.

Roland’s 2014 NAIDOC Week Address can be found here among my resource documents.
