Radical changes … better nurturing of the “garden”

The creator of the Root & Branches Web site, Geoff Boyce, had a vision of creating a safe place where people around the world could be nurtured in the “garden” of life. You have been experiencing a version of this Web site which we hope has been inspiring and encouraging. Up until now, Root & Branches has primarily been focused on Geoff creating a regular World Service which brought together a range of resources, musings, music, movie reviews, and other inspirational material all at the same time in one package.

Bringing all the material into one package all at once is an enormous task, taking a lot of time and effort. So, we have decided to change strategies to make it easier for us to continue providing you with excellent quality content without the stress of “production”.

How? We are going to bring you a constant stream of bite-sized nuggets. When something inspires us, provokes us to think, or resonates with the purposes of Root & Branches, we will post it straight away. This is a lot easier for us to do. And it also means that there are smaller gaps of time between you getting something in your inbox. It also means that you won’t have to work your way through a long series of items all at once.

All of this has led to a radically simplified menu on the site. Here’s what it looks like now (it might change a little bit as we move forward).

Main Menu

The menu will always appear at the top of whatever page you are viewing. And you can select any menu item wherever you are.

Clicking on the Home item will always take you back to the starting/main page. Selecting Who are we? will take you to brief descriptions of each of the contributors to Root & Branches. If you would like to email or meet up with Geoff, then choose Email or Meet with Geoff from the menu. And so, we don’t lose any of our previous materials, we have collected the old menu under the Past Stuff menu — just in case you want to find something.

Search Tool

On the right side of whatever page you are viewing, you will always see a search tool for the whole Web site. Type one or two words where it says Search… and press the Enter/Return key on your keyboard or click on the little magnifying glass. Anything that mentions your search words will be presented to you in a list for you to explore further.

Under the search bar, if you haven’t already, you can subscribe to get FREE automatic updates of new material on the site sent straight to your inbox. That way, you won’t miss anything! Just enter your email where it says Email Address then click on the Subscribe button. It’s as easy as that!

Did you know that Geoff has a Facebook Page? He does! You can find a link to his page underneath the subscription section. It looks like this: Geoff’s Facebook Page.

Finally, underneath all of this, there’s a place where you can explore anything we’ve posted on this site in the past. It’s our Archives and you just click where it says Select Month, choose your month, and you will see a list of all the material we’ve posted that month.

We hope you like the simpler site and the changes to the way we are delivering you with inspiration and encouragement in your inbox and here on the site. Please let us know what you think. You can write a comment at the bottom of any of our postings whenever you’re reading them. We’d love to hear from you!

— Geoff and the Team of Root & Branches.
